Day 13 - Back in London!

From Venice, we took EasyJet(.com) back to London. Apparently, we bought too much stuff on the trip, because we had to pay extra for our extra weight going back. Maybe we just ate too much on the cruise. No, I guess they were just weighing our bags -- good thing!

From the airport, we took the train to London. Jen was tired.

We didn't have time to ride a double decker bus last time, so we wanted to do that this time.

But we didn't have time to do it this time either. We had to jump in a taxi and race over in time to see the Tower of London.

Here is one of Her Majesty's "Beefeaters" who gave out tour of the tower. Here, he is explaining how the executioners used to hold the severed heads up to show the crowds.

These are the guards (with machine guns and bayonets) getting ready to change out the guard by the tower where the Crown Jewels are.

Here is Jen in front of the square where they put the scaffoding to execute nobility within the walls.

Here is the original castle and "White Tower."

Here is one of the chopping blocks in the museum in the White Tower.

Back in London, we walked around, went to a pub, and later went to see Mama Mia!

While walking around we saw a Methodist chapel where John Wesley used to preach.

Here is Jen at intermission.

Here is a picture of "me" at the show. Jen is really taking a picture of the couple next to me. They were both dressed head to toe in black latex.

Here is a picture I took of us at the show.

Here is part of the show. Jen was panicked because they said "no photography," but I thought one picture without flash wouldn't hurt.

Here is another picture of the guys who sat beside us.

The morning we left, we had to stop and get some Cuban cigars for several requests I had. They didn't open until 9:00, so I had to wait outside for 10 minutes. (Jen was also panicked that we'd get arrested for bringing Cubans home, but of course they didn't care.) ....She did make me nervous enough that I put them in her bag. :-)

Here is the taxi driver that took us to the airport. It was very funny when Jen discovered that he was very good friends and grew up in the same neighborhood as her hairdresser. What are the odds of that? Our London taxi driver and Jen have a mutual friend in Roswell.

We finally made it back to Atlanta and took MARTA home. It didn't seem too bad to take the train after we'd been doing it all over Europe. Here is Jen checking her voicemail after two weeks. She seems a little tired. I'm not sure it was the 8 1/2 hour plane ride -- or finding out that she had 137 voicemails!
