Day 7- July 4 (Fourth of July!) and Day 8 - Santorini, Greece

We were at sea all day today. We woke up at 2:00 p.m. and slept pretty much the rest of the day. I updated the web site, and we had dinner and watched a movie in the room. Very lazy day. Still nice to be on vacation!

Today (Saturday) we're off to Greece. It looks amazing -- I've already been up on deck -- you can see some of the greek islands -- while waiting for Jen to get ready. The Mediterranean is awesome.

Here is a close-up of the road up to the top. There were two choices to get to the top -- you could either ride a cable car or ride a donkey (really!) Jen decided, typically, that we needed more exercise, so we WALKED all the way to the top, being passed by donkeys the whole way. It was very hot and the hike up turned out to be much farther than we thought, standing at the base. We finally made it -- and none of the other cruisemates could believe we walked all the way up.

It did take its toll. Here is Jen "glistening" right after we made it all the way up. This bar advertised Free Swimming with every drink. We almost jumped right in.

Here is a view of the same pool and our ship in the background -- plus another of the Greek Islands.

Here is a shot of the village of Santorini:

After we rested, we had lunch:

Lunch was awesome -- local Greek wine and grilled "mixed fish."

Then we went shopping

Water was big today!

Then it was back to the ship

To get back down we rode donkeys! Here is Jen making friends with one of them:

Here is Jen riding one:

Here is Jen walking down after she gave up on riding about half way down:

And the tender brought us back to the ship

Back on board, our dinner table mates, Barry, Sheldon and I had Cuban cigars on the back deck. Here is Barry right before he made a video clip of me. He is a professional director/producer. I think my broadcasting needs some work, but this only took four takes: Here is the clip.

Here is Sheldon enjoying a fine Cuban as well (sans sound). (This is from my new camera, not a video camera -- so there's no sound and it requires Quicktime --which you should already have anyway.)

Here is Jen right before dinner, outside the Olympic restaurant. The wood panels inside are literally from dining room of the sister ship of the Titanic.

Barry and Rochelle have been on over 50 cruises! (The taught me, among other things, that you can order as much of the daily 5-course dinner as you want.

Here is me enjoying my second entree of the night! I love cruising!
